  1. Get into a good mindset and believe you can reach your goals. Realizing that you have to power to change how you live your life.  By changing your mind you have a greater ability to reach your goal. Believe in yourself and be real with yourself. Take a good look  at how your emotions and behaviors are affecting your health. This will allow you to examine if you have self-destructive behaviors or negative self motivation. Focus on your mind and gaining confidence and self-esteem, this in turn will move you closer to reaching your goals.
  2. Set Attainable Goals. In order to make permanent lifestyle change you need short-term and long-term goals. Make sure to WRITE them down. Make sure your goals are specific yet realistic – this will keep you motivated to reach your next goal. Make sure that when you reach a goal you reaffirm your actions (not by food) but with something that will help you make progress to reach your next goal.
  3. Support System.  Even though you are only responsible for whether you succeed or fail we all need a little support. It is still important to build a healthy support system around you. Make sure your share your goals and your plan on how to accomplish them. This will let them know how important it is to you.  You can build your support system from friends, family, coworkers etc.
  4. Make Healthier Choices. THROW AWAY JUNK. You can’t eat it if it’s not there. Replace your fridge and pantry with energy-boosting foods. Make sure to plan ahead including snack,  so you are not tempted when you’re hungry to make a unhealthy choice that you will regret later.
  5. Finally… MOVE. Obviously, exercise is the best way to burn calories and fat. If you’re not the treadmill type, finding activities or a sport that allow you to burn calories and fat while having a good time.  Make sure to set up a workout schedule and STICK TO IT!

Believe in yourself and you will reach your goals.
